Teaching and learning will involve an active teaching session (lecture), an interactive seminar and self-study including group work. Weekly lecture (~1 hour) to convey key topics and learnings as outlined in the schedule; the lecture will be delivered synchronous face to face in classroom setting Weekly seminar (~45 min) to apply and explore concepts introduced in the lecture; the seminar could be in a face-to-face class-room setting Weekly group study (~45 min) a dedicated time slot for students to work in groups and prepare for the summative assessment group presentation, tutors will be at hand to support and guide during the hour. Group study will initially be on campus but might shift to other times/locations depending on circumstances and personal preferences of groups. Additional self-study (~ 45 min) to read/watch/follow assigned material in preparation for lectures and seminar activities; student might want to set time aside to research and prepare for formative and summative assessments. |

Group presentation discussing specific industry/sector (30% weighting) – as a group you are required to deliver a 10-15 minute board/executive presentation and 5 minute for questions and answers on an agreed industry/sector. You are expected to demonstrate essential business skills such as executive presence, analysis and synthesis of information, leadership and team working skills. The group size will be between 3 and 5 students and group composition will be confirmed during week 2. Individual horizon scanning report (70% weighting) - students are required to submit an executive report outlining his/her/their horizon scanning findings and critical analysis for a particular industry/sector (the report should not exceed the maximum word count of 3 000 words excluding appendices which need include the underpinning horizon scanning tracker). Horizon scanning tracker (work in progress) - formative assessment in preparation for group presentation and individual industry/sector report. Students will be introduced to the concept of horizon scanning and critical analysis of data sources. Students are expected to develop their own horizon scanning tracker and populate the tool with findings. In addition to the above outlined assessments, students are expected to actively participate and engage with the module content and provided tools: Contributions to group discussions in class and online – you are expected to contribute to in class and online discussion forums including sharing of new information, sources and tools, discussing ideas/concepts presented in class and responding to questions linked to pre-class reading, as well as completion of formative assessments. |
